If you're planning a fall getaway to Turf Valley Resort, you don't have to go far to find that classic Maryland autumn experience. Our location in Ellicott City puts you close to some of the area's favorite farms and seasonal attractions, making it easy to spend the day exploring and come back to the resort to relax.

Here are a few of our favorite local spots to add to your fall itinerary:

Clark's Elioak Farm

A Howard County favorite for generations, Clark's Elioak Farm is a family-owned farm with more than 225 years of history. The farm combines traditional farm fun with a little bit of Maryland nostalgia. Kids can visit the petting farm, take a pony ride, explore the Fairy Forest, ride the Enchanted Express Train, and see restored pieces from the beloved Enchanted Forest theme park.

Fall Events at Clark's Elioak Farm:

  • Sunflower Showcase (August 21 - September 13): Stroll through vibrant sunflower fields. Capture stunning photos and revel in the beauty of nature.
  • Pumpkin Patch (September 19 - November 8): Open daily, this pumpkin patch is perfect for picking your own pumpkins. Enjoy delicious food from local vendors while you're there.
  • Halloween Costume Parades (October 24-25): Come dressed up and enjoy Halloween fun with costume parades at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
  • Pumpkin Chucking Weekend (November 7-8): Experience the thrill of launching pumpkins across the farm using a special catapult. It's a 20-year tradition that families love.

Mary's Land Farm

Located in Ellicott City, Mary's Land Farm offers a different kind of farm experience — one centered around slowing down, connecting with the land, and spending time together.

The 160-acre farm focuses on regenerative farming and quality food, with beautiful grounds, a welcoming farm store, and plenty to explore. Visitors can book private animal encounters, attend workshops, or simply spend some time enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Animal lovers can get up close with friendly farm animals including calves, bunnies, goats, lambs, and even unicorns.

Larriland Farm

For a quintessential fall farm day, Larriland Farm is the place to go. Larriland offers seasonal pick-your-own produce throughout the year, and fall brings some of the season's favorites, including pumpkins, apples, squash, pears, and more.

Their Fall Festival runs September 8-October 31, 2026, bringing together some of the best parts of autumn in one place.

  • Pick Your Own Produce: Choose from pumpkins, apples, and more. The satisfaction of picking your own food is unmatched.
  • Giant Corn Maze: Get lost in a fun, challenging corn maze with winding paths and plenty of twists and turns along the way.
