Turf Valley Resort's Real Weddings Spotlight features Joe and Julie, who celebrated their wedding on August 22nd, 2020. Joe Mangione, the groom, is the grandson of Nick and Mary Mangione, who purchased Turf Valley more than 40 years ago.
It is a place that Joe is quite familiar with - visiting the property growing up and now working at Turf Valley Resort. Joe follows in the footsteps of many family members who celebrated their weddings at Turf Valley, including his parents, Pete and Tracy Mangione, who were married at the resort in 1989.

Did anything change with the wedding/reception because of the pandemic?
We were fortunate to keep our original wedding date with a few changes to our plans. Our reception was moved to the Cameo Ballroom, which provided a larger reception space. In addition, our cocktail hour was moved outdoors on the balcony to accommodate guests that preferred to be in an open area. The best part was still being able to celebrate with our family and friends.
Did you have any unique touches to the ceremony?
My cousin Tommy played acoustic guitar for us during the ceremony. He played a great cover of The Beatles "Blackbird" as the wedding party walked down the aisle, and "Here Comes the Sun" as Julie came down the aisle. Also, our dogs were able to be part of the wedding!
Did you have a must-have photo or a favorite photo location on the property?
We loved the garden area with the willow trees and took most of our pictures there with our families. The fountain with the hotel in the background was our must-have photo, and we were even able to sneak the swan in a few pictures.
What was your favorite part about the Turf Valley Wedding Experience?
The entire weekend was perfect. We arrived around noon on Friday, held our rehearsal dinner outside. On Saturday we had our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour outside and our reception indoor in the Cameo Ballroom. It was great having the hotel, so our guests had the option to stay overnight. The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast in Alexandra's and relaxed by the pool.
