This past weekend, we celebrated the life of Mary C. Mangione, the matriarch of the Mangione Family. She was celebrated in a private mass with her 10 children, their 10 spouses, her 37 grandchildren and their spouses, and 23 great grandchildren. The day was filled with gratitude, commemoration, laughter, smiles, tears but most importantly, family. Although gone, her legacy and presence undeniably lives in each one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved and respected her dearly. During the mass, Father Leavitt spoke about Mary being salt of the earth, and the glory that fulfilled her life through her children, and giving back to the community. Granddaughter Luisa sang a beautiful song, Gentle Woman; the lyrics capture her essence. Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star, so strong and bright, gentle Mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom; teach us love. You were chosen by the Father; you were chosen for the Son. You were chosen from all women and for woman, shining one. Donβt wait until it's too late to rejoice in your loved ones. Show them you care every chance you get. Rest In Peace.
